Exploring Summer with all our Senses

We recently got home from spending two weeks in my hometown in northern Michigan. My son, Danny called it a vacation, but really our entire summer has been like a vacation.  Our days have been a perfect mixture of drippy ice cream cones, the touch of dirt on bare feet, the smells of sweaty sunscreen, the shrill screams that follow water splashes, and staying up way too late to see fireworks light up the sky.

As a family, we started discussing our favorite summer things and we began to realize how they each stimulated our five senses. My five-year-old has been reviewing the 5 senses in his summer work-book and he was thrilled to discuss and categorize all our favorite parts of summer, thus far. Here’s a look at how we’ve been stimulating our senses….
